Dear Marie,
Who would have ever thought that after being friends since we were little children, that I would be would be writing on your husband's obituary page. It is really hard to believe. We so much enjoyed our last visit at your place and it was nice to get to know Bob better. You are  very fortunate to have actually found your soulmate even if it wasn't for as long as you would have chosen. That doesn't happen to everyone. You were a wonderful wife and caregiver to him right to the end -you couldn't have done more for him. I know he loved you unconditionally. 
I just read this and thought of you-

When someone you love dies
you never quite get over it,
you just slowly learn
to go on without them
But always keeping them
tucked safely in your heart.

Altho I only got to really know Bob this last 8 years, I grew to respect and appreciate him. What I saw was his love for Marie & her love for him. They accomplished what most of us would have liked to. They literally supported each other...to have the best they could have. I looked forward to the early morning Emails (jokes) & the '604' comments. my thoughts will be with all of you, esp. Marie as the 'good-byes' are made today. I'm sorry I couldn't be there.

Bob was a wonderful brother-in-law and we will miss him at our family gatherings. We were very blessed to have had him as a part of our family and were so lucky that our sister had such a special guy that took such great care of her.
