Santina (Astorino) Pagnotta
September 27, 1949 – February 18, 2024 (74 yrs)
It is with Heavy Hearts and Great Sadness that we announce the passing of our Beautiful mother, Santina (Astorino) Pagnotta.
Born in Scigliano, Cosenza, Italy, on September 27, 1949, she passed peacefully in her son Luciano’s arms on February 18, 2024, in Prince George, BC.
She was affectionately known as Smoochie by the caring staff at Parkside Care Home where she resided for the last 13 years. Smoochie was a favorite there and often kissed the care staff. They would find her wearing unique toques, headbands, bandanas, and her unmistakably cool style, complete with sunglasses.
Our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation go to the nurses and Parkside care staff for their unwavering care for her. We cannot thank them enough!
Survived by her devoted sons, John, Luciano (Sandra), and Michael (Andrea), as well as cherished grandchildren Zoe Lucia, Martina, Giuliana, and Giordano. She is also survived by her Brother-in-laws Armando Maletta, dear nieces Joanne and Liana; Frank (Michelina) Pagnotta, Battista (Angela) Pagnotta, and Sister Ugolina (Pasquale) Mancuso of Italy. Santina leaves behind numerous cousins and families in both Canada and Italy.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Gaetano Pagnotta, of 51 years, and siblings Giuseppina Maletta, Eugenia Astorino, Flaviano (Lino) Astorino, as well as parents Luigi and Margherita (Coccimiglio) Astorino.
Santina's affection and incredible sense of humor, often expressed in Italian, will forever resonate. A courageous fighter to the end, she possessed a heart that knew no bounds.
Rest in Peace, dear Momma… Riposi in Pace. You will be forever loved and never forgotten.
