Shirley Ann Jensen

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Jensen who passed peacefully with her family by her side on October 16th, 2011. She was a kind and gentle soul who was a deeply loved wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on April 9th, 1938, raised in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and moved to Prince George with her husband and young daughters in 1964. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years Jens Peter Jensen, daughters Cynthia Mandel (Simon) and Karla Jensen (Brent), grandchildren Joshua Mandel, Hannah Mandel and Brandan Jensen, sister Fern Webb (Rick), sister-in-law Karla Rasmussen and brother-in-law Gunnar Jensen (Karen) along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Ole Randen, sister Joyce Montgomery and brother Lyle McCullough. For many years the family resided in South Fort George where Mom was active in the community association, South Fort George Elementary School and Brownies. Mom loved life and enjoyed camping, fishing, singing, music, reading and crafts but her biggest joy was taking care of her family which she did very well. The family would like to express its deepest and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Barry Hagen who provided care to mom for 42 years, to the home care nurses who provided wonderful care to Mom over the last few months and the many nurses of the Emergency and Family Medical Units at the University of Northern British Columbia Hospital for providing not only the highest level of medical care to Mom over the last few weeks but delivered it with such care and compassion. Mom, you are home now, thank you for giving us so much love and joy, you will remain forever in our hearts. A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2pm at Lakewood First Memorial Funeral Services, 1055 Ospika Blvd, Prince George, BC. In lieu of flowers donations to the Diabetes Association of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
