Thomas James Hearn

May 17, 1947 – January 27, 2024
Obituary of Thomas James Hearn
IN THE CARE OF

Assman's Funeral Chapel

Thomas Hearn, a beloved husband, father, and retired RCMP officer, passed away on January 27th, 2024 in Prince George at the age of 76. Born in Edmonton on May 17th, 1947 to loving parents, Henry and Margaret, who instilled in him a strong sense of duty and compassion for others. Thomas lived his life with unwavering integrity and an unyielding commitment to serving his community.

As a young man, Thomas joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police where he served with honor and distinction for over close to three decades. He was known as firm, but fair, and personified the integrity, compassion and excellence that guides the profession. Early in Tom’s career he met and married the love of his life Patricia. The two would go on to have three amazing children, numerous grandchildren and grand dogs.

Tom was a doting son and loving husband, but it was as a father that he truly excelled. He modeled what it meant to be honest, kind and to put family above all else.

Tom was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was with a healthy dose of humour and sarcasm and he was notorious for dropping a one-liner. He loved dogs more than most people, and animals instinctively recognized his gentle nature and his quiet kindness.

He will be forever missed by his children James Hearn (Angela), Holly Bragg (Kristan), Heather Juckes (Jason); brothers George (Marian), Andrew (Linda); sister Christine; grandchildren Cameron, Ariana, Alayna, Tate, Elliott and Evan. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Hearn (nee Stewart); parents Henry and Margaret; brothers-in-law Ernie Carefoot and John Stewart.

While Tom’s passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew him, they are comforted by the knowledge that he and Patricia are together again.

In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to a local animal rescue organization.
