Bernard Clayton Mitchem, 75, of Kegley, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2018.
Born April 20, 1943 in Asco, WV; he was a son of the late Walter C. and Elsie M. Ford Mitchem.
Bernard loved working on lawnmowers and old cars, going to car shows, fishing, and hunting, but he loved spending time with his grandchildren more than anything.
He served his country proudly in the United States Navy; during his working career he worked for Corte, Compton, and Independence Construction Companies, as a field superintendent.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell Clayton Mitchem, and Gregory Doyle Mitchem; and a brother, Lonnie Mitchem.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 44 years, Linda K. Mitchem; four children, Anthony Mitchem Sr. and wife, Teresa of Spanishburg, Cyndi Amfaldern and husband, Danny of Charlotte, NC, Timothy Mitchem and wife, Debbie of Tiger, GA; and Brian Mitchem and wife, Heather of Princeton; grandchildren, Dwayne, Candace, Jodie, Nicole, Gregory, Jr, Kayla, Coty, Samantha, Amanda, Will, Garrett, Elizabeth, Grayson, Joey, Anthony, and Alaura; 10 great grandchildren, two sisters, Louise Greene and Wanda Kay Sarks and husband Bill all of Asco, WV; a sister-in-law, Elsie Mitchem of Princeton; extended family and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Bernard Clayton Mitchem will be held 12:30PM Monday, June 11, 2018 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton with Pastor Allen Stump officiating.
Friends may gather with the family from 11:00AM until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
