

Betty Rose Smith Schulz passed peacefully from this world at her home in Princeton, West Virginia after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Schulz of College Point, New York and her parents Harry E. and Hallie Mae Smith of Princeton, West Virginia.
Betty Schulz was a born in Arista, WV. The family later moved to Princeton, WV where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Concord College in 1947. While at Concord College, she was president of Kappa Omicron Phi, and Alpha Sigma Tau. Among many other achievements, she was a member of YWCA, the Panhellenic Council, Eta Bita Pi, and the student council. After graduating, she taught briefly in Giles County, VA before moving to College Point, New York with her husband, Walter Schulz. There, she was a long time member of the First Reformed Church in College Point and the Eastern Star. She taught at Immanuel Lutheran School in Whitestone, New York from 1961 until her retirement in 1993.
She is survived by her daughter Louann Landreth of Christiansburg, VA, her son and his wife Paul and Marylou Schulz of Saginaw, Texas. Also remembered are her cousins, Emma Lou Johnston and husband Trevor both of Princeton as well as cousin, Nanciye LaRoach of Nashville, TN, and longtime friend, Peggy Blackwell of Princeton and many cousins.
There will be a memorial service at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joyce Tedder officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Flushing Memorial Cemetery in Flushing New York with a graveside rights presided by Reverend Linda Gold of the First Reformed Church in College Point.
