George D. Sexton

Princeton – George Delaney Sexton, 70, of Princeton, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2011 at his home following a short illness.

Born September 30, 1940 in Welch, WV, he was the son of the late James Franklin Sexton and Ethel Bowles Sexton. He was a 1959 Welch High School graduate and was still employed at Cliffs Natural Resources in Pineville, WV. George was a company safety inspector and instructor and had over 35 years of coal mining experience in which he loved. He attended Fairview Christian Community Church with his friend and pastor, Larry Dyer.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of thirty-five years, Carol Smith Sexton of the home; son, Paul David Sexton and wife Tanya of Princeton, two daughters, Norma Lester and husband David, grandsons Brandon and wife Jamie, David, Jr and fiancé Amanda of Mt. Holly, N.C., Tammy Lester and husband Roger; grandson Roger Lee, Jr and granddaughter, Ashley of Mt. Holly, N.C.; son, Bruce Sexton and fiancé Vickie of Shelby, N.C.;two brothers, Frank H. Sexton (recently deceased) and wife Debbie of Princeton, nephew James F. Sexton and wife Karen of Abingdon; Jerry Sexton and wife Christy of Covington, GA; one sister, Dorothy Britt and husband Ron of Georgia. Special friends and racing co-horts, Tracy and Rhonda McClaugherty of Princeton.

Friends may call Monday, February 28, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, WV. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Larry Dyer officiating. Pallbearers will be George’s grandsons, David, Brandon, Roger Lee Lester, friend Dale Goins, friends and co-workers, Clinton (Tennessee) Collins, Steve (Big Mac) McHaffa and honorary pallbearer James Bennett.
