On Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944, Luana Flatt “Lu” Coleman was born in Elbert, West Virginia; the daughter of the late Ewing and Elaine Flatt. On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, Luana gained her angels’ wings at Bluefield Regional Medical Center after a lingering illness.
After accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age, Luana was a member of the Gary United Methodist Church, where she was the Secretary/ Treasurer of the United Methodist Women for many years. She was a proud Gary Coaldigger, having graduated Salutatorian from Gary High School in 1962. She was last employed by McDowell Mission, Inc as an Office Assistant.
She enjoyed listening to gospel music, and watching disaster movies and game shows. She was a quiet witness for God, and a true lady. She lived her life with grace and dignity, and God’s light shone in everything she said or did. She will be missed forever.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Darrell Flatt and her sister, Alma Jean Burgoyne.
She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Larry Coleman, of Gary; her daughter, Joy Lamb of Havaco; her grandson and joy of her life, Evan Lamb of Havaco; and her beloved sister, Joretta Sue Parker of Enterprise, Alabama. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, as well as her cat, “Puddin”.
