

Kenneth Hagen, a Prineville resident, passed away on December 3, 2013 at his home. He was 86 years old. Ken was born on January 24, 1927 in Bend, Oregon to parents Hans and Katherine Hagen. He attended schools in Bend, and in 1940 went to work for his uncles in Seward, Alaska as a salmon fisherman until 1944. Returning to Bend, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as an Aeronautical Engineer for two years. He was honorably discharged and during his duty received the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. After returning to Bend, he met and later married his wife Betty. They moved to Prineville in 1949 and were the proud parents of 5 children: Ken, Jim, Ron, Patty and Kim. Ken owned the Mobil Service Station for a number of years, and later worked for S.S. Flegel Trucking Company. He was a recreational boater in his early years, and loved traveling with his wife and dogs during his retirement. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty, of Prineville, Oregon; Children- Ken, of Macon, Missouri, Jim, of Lake Forest, California, Ron of Camus, Washington, Patty, of Sacramento, California and Kim, of Redmond, Oregon, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Stewart of Prineville, Oregon, his mother, Katherine Stewart, also from Prineville, and Sam Stipe, grandson, of Redmond, Oregon. There will be a visitation at Prineville Funeral Home 199 NE 10th St. on Friday, December 13th from 3PM-7PM, and a funeral service at Prineville Funeral Home on Saturday, December 14th at 2PM.
