

She was born June 3rd, 1923 to Myron and Ethel Hager in Powell Butte, OR. She joined her half brother Donald, sister Ruth and her brother Robert. Lota joined the family a few years later. She grew up in Prineville at the Hager Dairy on Lower Bridge Rd. and also in various areas around Central Oregon. Marjorie met the love of her life in 1941, E. Roger Sherman, who had come to Crook County from New Jersey as a member of the CCC’s during WW ll. They were married in March 1942 in Prineville. They then moved to Portland. Their son John was born there a year later.
Dianne was born in 1945 after they moved back to Prineville. Elaine joined the family in 1950 and Mary in 1953.
The family moved to Madras in 1955. Marjorie was a day care provider until her children were out of the nest. Quite a few of those children have kept in touch through the years.
Her next job was to work in a school cafeteria until Roger retired. They moved to Redmond in the late 70’s. They enjoyed going to the Senior Center for lunch and playing board games with friends.
Marjorie loved to grow squash, iris, mums, pansies, snapdragons and violets. She will be best remembered for the hundreds of cookies she made for friends, and Vacation Bible school.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Roger, in 2004. Their daughter, Dianne died in 2007 and son John in 2008. Preceding her in death were brothers Robert and Donald and sister, Lota. She is survived by her sister, Ruth of 94 years, daughters Elaine Kelley and Mary McNeil and daughter-in-law Lainie Sherman. She had 4 granddaughters, 9 step grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and 18 step great grandchildren.
She was buried during a private ceremony at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, Oregon next to her beloved husband, siblings and parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at 1 pm at Bend Church of the Nazarene Fireside room 1270 NE 27th, Bend, Oregon.
