Alan Courtney, age 91, of Providence, passed away Monday, May 5, 2020 in Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of the late Barbara “Bobbie” (Gordon) Courtney to whom he has been married for the past 41 years.
Born and raised in New York City, New York, a son of the late Max and Rose (Heller) Courtney, he lived in Palm Beach, Florida for over twenty years before returning to Providence in 2004.
A graduate of Bronx High School, Class of 1945, he received his Bachelor of Arts from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
He worked in the garment industry for several years before working in real estate for many years before retiring.
He was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by: two children, Kerri Courtney and Michael Courtney; granddaughter, Lacey Zavelovich and great-grandchildren, Lily and Zoey. Bobbie’s two daughters, Susan Hamin and Deborah Hamin; Bobbie’s grandchildren, Lily Hamin and Scott Lilienthal. He was the brother of the late Helen Michaels.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, his funeral services will be private for the immediate family. Arrangements are in the care of the Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, Providence.

I was Alan’s private aid. He Loved his wife and children as much as singing. He was a role model and a gentleman. He Love New York and Penn University. He made his nineteenth 90 birthday. Rest In Peace friends, thank you for making a difference in our lives.
