Alan M. Samdperil, 87, passed away peacefully at home in Coral Gables, FL on September 16. He was the devoted husband of Sandra (Chaiken) Samdperil. Sandy and Alan shared 67 years of marriage and were together since they were 14 years old.
Born in Providence, Alan was the son of the late Nathan and Dorothy (Summer) Samdperil.
Alan grew up in Providence and attended Classical High School, where he was on the football team. After Classical, Alan went on to Harvard College, where he graduated with honors.
He was a driven businessman who worked alongside three generations of his family in the metal supply and importing business, including his grandfather, father, daughters, and son-in-law.
Alan lived most of his life in Providence, and in his later years he and Sandy spent their winters in Palm Desert, California, and summers in the Berkshires.
He had a passion for adventure and traveled the world with Sandy. Alan was an avid skier, golfer, and loved flying his Cessna plane. A student of world politics, he was an ardent supporter of the State of Israel. Alan was a former member of Temple Beth-El in Providence, where he ushered during the High Holidays for decades.
Alan was proud of his large and growing family. In addition to his wife Sandy, Alan is survived by three daughters: Judy (Samdperil) Mann and her husband Robbie of Miami Beach, FL; Gail Samdperil and her husband Alan Goldman of Old Greenwich, CT; and Beth (Samdperil) Garbow and her husband Mitch of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce (Samdperil) Claar, and her husband Fred of Harrison, NY. Alan leaves behind his adored six grandchildren: Zachary (Hannah) Mann, Esther (Ari) Ebstein, Chana (Elia) Pardes, Yosef Garbow, Sam Goldman, and Alex Goldman, as well as five great-grandsons, Nathan, DiDi, Elisha, Liam and Kobi. Alan was predeceased by his grandson, Max Mann.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, 458 Hope Street, Providence. A graveside burial will follow in Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick. The family will sit shiva from 2:00 –4:30 p.m. at Waterman Grille, 4 Richmond Square, Providence.
