

Coventry Alan S. Wilson, 77, of Englewood Road, died peacefully Monday, February 27, 2012, at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Carol E. (Solstrom) Wilson for the past forty-seven years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Victor S. and Marion (Stewart) Wilson. Alan served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War, stationed in Hawaii and Maine. Upon his discharge, he became a Correctional Officer at the Adult Correctional Institution, where he served for thirty-two years, before retiring with the rank of Lieutenant, in 1991. In his spare time, he became an accomplished cribbage player, also enjoyed a game of bridge, digging in local waters for quahogs, but most of all, he loved to spend time with family and friends. In addition to his wife Carol, he leaves a son, Derek A. Wilson; a daughter, Dawn M. Wilson; and a niece, Lori Solstrom. The funeral service will be held Friday, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday, 4 - 8 pm.
