Alice Rita McElroy

McElroy, Alice R., age 93 formerly of Weymouth St., passed away on November 15, 2011 at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Mary C. (Sheridan) McElroy. Before retirement, Miss. McElroy was employed with the State of RI as an assistant administrator for the Dept. of Human Resources for many years. She was a 1941 Graduate of Emanuel College earning a Bachelor's degree, and a 1965 graduate of Boston College earning a Master's Degree in social work. She was a member of N A S W, a Docent at RI School of Design Museum and a member of Fish-East Side. She was the past President of the RI Department of Human Resources Retirees. She was also a communicant of St. Sebastian Church in Providence and St. Gregory the Great Church in Warwick. She is survived by a niece and several nephews and her dear friend Irene Kocima. She was the sister of the late William A., Vincent P., Francis J., Genevieve M., and M. Angela McElroy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on MONDAY at 10 am in St. Sebastian Church 67 Cole Ave, Providence. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
