

Aline E. Dufresne, 98, an executive secretary, formerly of Brook Farm Road and The Village at Waterman Lake, passed away peacefully at Hallworth House on January 3rd. Aline was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Raymond G. Dufresne, Sr. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Placide and Mathilda (Coutu) Lessard. She also resided in Cambridge and Belmont, Massachusetts and Caribou, Maine.
Aline was a loving, devoted mother to her four children and their spouses: Diane M. and Arthur J. Giroux of Beaver Cove, ME and Englewood, FL; Jane I. and Edward F. Landry of Richmond, VA; Mary R. and Charles A. Strniste of North Scituate, RI; and Dr. Raymond G. and Laura R. Dufresne, Jr. of Barrington and Orleans, MA.
A loving and involved grandmother, Aline enjoyed sharing special times with her ten grandchildren: Arline E. Rebelo, Karen R. Cirulli, Brian C. Giroux, Jonathan D. Landry, Rebecca M. Smith, Jason C. Strniste, Marissa J. Strniste, David R. Dufresne, Julie A. Dufresne, and the late Kristen M. Strniste. Aline was a blessing to her nine great-grandchildren: Victoria, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Ethan, Harrison, Sophie, Jude, Hattie, and Leo, and to many nieces, nephews, and friends who remember her fondly and lovingly. She was predeceased by her five sisters, Maryann D. Sylvestre, Jeanette A. Dandeneau, Irene R. Farrell, Lucille M. Lessard, Rita C. Allard, and two brothers, Ernest W. and Arthur J. Lessard. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Rita B. Lessard.
A lifetime communicant, Aline was a loving, inspiring woman with a personal, vibrant relationship with the Lord. Aline was an exceptionally devoted wife and nurturing, supportive mother. With gentle humor, fortitude, and unwavering trust in God, she met each day’s challenges with wisdom, kindness, and patience. Aline was the loving heartbeat of her family, and a rich blessing to everyone fortunate to have known her. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire and influence all our lives.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 7th, 4-7 p.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Wednesday, January 8th at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, RI. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hallworth House Patient Activities Fund, 66 Benefit Street, Providence, RI 02904.
