Angela D. Murphy

Angela Dale Murphy,78, passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2016 surrounded by her family at South County Hospital. She was the loving wife of John A. Murphy M.D. for 54 years.Born in Franklin, PA, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Marie B. (Beichner) Dale. She attended Franklin High School and graduated as Valedictorian from Georgetown University School of Nursing. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a public health nurse in Alexandria, VA. She and her husband resided in Rumford, RI for many years and were active members of Saint Margaret Parish, until they moved to South County, RI. Besides her husband, Angela leaves four children: Ellen M. Elliott (William) of Greenland, NH, John A. Murphy III (Jennifer) of Wakefield, RI, Marie Murphy McLaughlin of North Attleboro, MA and James D. Murphy (Allison) of Hopkinton, MA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren who adored their Grammie: Meghan and Matthew Elliott; Christopher, Ryan, Jake and Samantha Murphy; Katherine, Sarah and Margaret McLaughlin; Patrick, Connor and Blake Murphy. Angela was a past President of the Pawtucket Garden Club, a member of Point Judith Country Club, and a former member of the Handicraft Club. She was a competitive bridge player and a member of the Narragansett Bridge Club. Angela had extraordinary love for and a special bond with each of her grandchildren. More than anything else, she treasured time spent with them.She is the sister of Katherine McComb of Peoria, IL, Robert M. Dale M.D. of Marblehead, MA and the late Paula Mulligan of Grand Rapids, MI. The funeral will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 8:15 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd (Rt. 117), Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in Saint Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial in Saint Francis Cemetery, Wakefield.
