Anthony P. Capraro

Born in Providence, a son of the late Antonio and Maria (Centracchio) Capraro. Husband of the late Elizabeth Kalfaian. Father of Anthony P. Capraro, Jr. and his wife Karen. The loving companion of Lorna Proffit for more than forty years. Stepfather of Curtis Proffit and wife Tracey. Grandfather of Elizabeth (Capraro) Del Sesto and her husband Greg, Olivia Capraro, Kaylin and Marcus Proffit. Brother of the late Jean Borelli and Diana Avarista.

Anthony will forever be remembered as someone who put others first. As a young student at Hope High School in Providence, Anthony began working at Santagata’s Liquor Store on Charles Street to support his mother and sisters after the early death of his father. He later met and married Elizabeth.

In 1978 he sadly lost his wife and found himself caring alone for his son. He began working at Corning Glass in Central Falls where he met his second love, Lorna. He was at Corning for thirty years before retiring to take on yet another career, as “Papa Tony”… taking care of his grandchildren, never missing any of their sporting events, and always slipping them a $20 bill when no one was looking. He will forever be missed.

Anthony’s Visitation will be held on Wednesday 10:30 am to 12 Noon in the PONTARELLI-MARINO HOME, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm in the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence. Graveside burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gentiva Hospice in “Smiley’s” name.
