Anthony J. Castello, 77, passed away April 9, 2018.
Tony was the son of the late Antonio and Phyllis (Hunnewell) Castello. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores (Picard) Castello and his brother Thomas Camillo Castello. Surviving are his children Cynthia Reynolds (Kerri), Lisa Castello and Toni Rubiano (Joseph); grandchildren Philip, Benjamin, Joseph, Christina, and Jenna; great-grandchild Lukas; siblings Louise Christiansen, Phyllis Delgado, Thomas, John and Phillip Castello; and numerous nieces and nephews.
After serving in the RI National Guard and the U. S. Air Force, Anthony worked as a welding supervisor for Electric Boat; bringing several Los Angeles class submarines into service and overseeing the initial building phases of the USS SEAWOLF. Before retiring, he also was given an opportunity to work on the steel structure of the new Yankee stadium; which thrilled this lifelong Giants and Yankees fan! Visitation will be held Tuesday, 4-7 p.m. with funeral services Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, followed by burial with military honors in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
