Tony was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (Jones) Hill and the devoted son of the late Martina (Payweyne) Hill. Born and raised in Providence, he was a caring big brother, a proud father and stepfather, a cherished “Grampa,” and a loyal friend to all who knew him.
A true jack of all trades, Tony lived a life of purpose and service. He proudly served in the National Guard and pursued many callings throughout his life. He attended school to become a minister, was a certified chef, and worked as a skilled mechanic; talents he generously shared with others.
Tony had a deep love for cooking, music, and dancing, and found great peace and joy while fishing and spending time by the water. Above all else, he was known for his generous heart: if you were hungry, he would feed you; if you needed a place to stay, his door was always open.
Tony’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved children: Yolanda Reed of Providence, RI; Anthony G. Hill, Jr. and Crystal A. Hill, both of New York, NY; Jesse W. Hazard, Rashaad Hill, and Omari Barnes all of Providence, RI. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Alonda Hazard-Davis, Edward Hazard, David Hazard, Lakisha Hazard, Lashonda Hazard, and Lanisha Smith. He leaves behind 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sister Rachel S. Hill of Providence; and his goddaughters Chantell, Dalayisha, and Tiajuana.
He was predeceased by his son Gerard A. Hazard and his stepson Andre Hazard.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with final expenses may be made to Jesse Hazard, 218 Dexter Street, Apt. 205, Providence, RI 02907.
