Anthony R. Johnston, formerly of Warwick, died on June 26, 2011 at Hopkins Manor in North Providence at the age of 82. He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine M. Johnston, who died on May 24, 2011, and the devoted father of David and his wife Carole of Coventry; grandfather of Jeffrey (Filomena) and Scott (Lisa), and great-grandfather of Jenna, Joseph and Gian. He was a special godfather to Nikki-Lyn Johnston.
Son of the late Robert and Catherine V. (Brady) Johnston; brother of Austin “Skit” Johnston of Warwick, and the late Charles, Thomas, William, James, Howard, Joseph, Norman, Richard , Robert and Gerald Johnston.
A veteran of the U.S. Army in Korea, Anthony worked in several mills, including Grinnell and United Wire. He was a lifelong Yankees fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
A memorial mass with full military honors will be held at St. Agnes Church, 100 Chatham Street, Providence, at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1st. There will be no calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. www.pontarellimarinofunerals.com
