

Anthony Moretti, 90, of Mayfield Avenue, Cranston RI, passed away Thursday July 1, 2021 surrounded by his loving family in Kent Hospital. Mr. Moretti passed on the eve of his 66th Wedding Anniversary to his adoring wife Vilma J. ( Petteruti ) Moretti. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angie (Plamandon) Moretti of Cranston.
Mr. Moretti was a second-generation landscape designer and co-owner of Midway Nurseries. He would later become the oldest backhoe operator for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence Cemeteries until 87 years of age.
In his earlier years he enjoyed playing baseball (nickname “Ash”) football, boxing (nickname “Champ”), bowling, hunting, mushrooming and quahoging. He enjoyed the great outdoors and all of God’s creation. He was an increditably hard worker who loved and took great pride in his work. Anthony will forever be remembered as a beloved husband, father and poppy to his family.
In addition to his wife he leaves his daughter Toni-Ann and her husband Stephen Eacueo, his youngest son Joseph, two grandchildren Natalia and Quinci and his sister Christina Tarvis. He was preceded in death by his oldest son David, his brother Joseph, and his sister M. Grace.
