

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Sisto and Maria (Ceci) Calicchia.
Anthony became a patrolman with the City of Providence in October, 1954 and soon was promoted to detective where he was a member of the elite C. Squad. Tony C. earned several commendations and meritorious awards for his hard work and dedication for over a 25 year career. He was a loyal friend and was admired greatly by his peers. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was the father of Carl Calicchia, Maria Gencoglu, Roxane Romeo, Jacintha Motta and Spaina Cruz; grandfather of 11, great grandfather of 5; uncle to many nieces and nephews and brother of the late Eugene, Josephine and Teresa Calicchia and Rose Galligan.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 am from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Bartholomew Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence. Graveside burial with Military Honors to follow in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITATION FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
