Barbara D. (Vescera) Coutu, 80 of Johnston passed away peacefully June 16, 2018 after illness and complications from surgery. She was beloved by everyone who came within her sphere. She was a true first responder and always there for people in need right when they needed it the most. Her dedication to those she loved enriched the lives of so many.
Barbara’s passion was always Real Estate. She was a house flipper long before it even had a name. Nothing made her happier than when she was planning rehabs, ripping walls out and “Barbarazing” things. She always had a project going, usually multiple ones; buying, fixing up, renting and selling.
For years she served as the Vice President of Coutu Enterprises, and owner of Admiral Realty doing property management. She also owned a restaurant, a flee market and briefly a small motel. Her many interests included travel, cards and visiting with friends and family.
Barbara leaves behind her soon to be 100 year old mother, Mary (Andrade) Otis, her beloved sons, Louis Coutu and Anthony Coutu Parente; her granddaughters Alexis and Breanna Coutu and many aunts, uncles and cousins from both the Vescera and Andrade families. She was also sister of the late Richard Vescera.
Her funeral and visitation will be held Thursday at 9:00 am from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial to follow in St. Ann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to R.I. Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Cranston, RI 02907; www.rifoodbank.org. www.romanofuneralhome.com
