

Chepachet, Holmes, Benjamin P. "Paul", 87, formerly of Chepachet, died Monday at the VA Medical Center in Providence. Born in Johnston, he was the son of the late Benjamin T. and Adele (Poulin) Holmes. Mr. Homes was a machinist for Nyman Mfg. Co. for 30 years. He was a RI World Wasr II Veteran Hero. He served in the 95th Division Army from 1943 to 1945 in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. Serving our country, he was awarded a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat and two Bronze Stars for his heroic efforts in saving his division from approaching enemy. A proud unassuming man, his heroic efforts did not alter how he conducted his life. Thank You Dad for our freedom.He was the beloved father of Nancy Holmes and her partner, Peggy Waggoner, of Milton, FL, Carol Boudreau and her husband Al, of Johnston, Thomas Holmes and his wife Doreen, of Cranston, Steven Holmes of Barnegat, NJ, and the late Paula Jahnz and brother of the late Vincent Holmes. He leaves 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.Funeral Thursday, at 8:30am from the Russell J. Boyle&Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St. Providence.
