

Originally from Brookline, MA, Bernie held degrees in biology and chemistry as well as a Master’s degree in Marketing. Bernie spent most of his professional career working on leading edge technologies. At MIT, he worked on the pathways that allow brain impulses to control prosthetic devices. He worked on developing the early heart lung oxygenators. In 1984 when he was Vice President of Marketing for a division of the Foxboro Company developing robotic machine vision system, he met his best friend Susan Ricci. They married and remained best friends throughout where they travelled and enjoyed many scenic and historic places.
Bernie and his beloved wife Susan moved to Onset and launched ENT Medical, a company dedicated to otitis media and other ear infections in children. As C.E.O, he was a frequent lecturer in medical schools where he conducted with CDC to teach this revolutionary technology based on principals of sonar developed by the Navy.
In addition to his wife survivors include: children, Marilyn Taylor and her husband James of Sharon, MA, Ronald Sohn and his wife Amy of Elizabeth, NJ and Debra Mitchell of Fall River, MA; step children, Steven Ricci of Somerville, MA and Peter Ricci and his wife Rebecca of Bedford, MA; three sisters, Rosalie Fishman, Marion Rosenberg and Nancy Swartz; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was the brother of the late Charlotte Lefcoe.
Burial took place in Shara Tfilo Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA.
