Providence: McGowan, Betty C. (Adey), 87,formerly of Modena Ave, died Sunday at North Bay Manor in Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Louis C. McGowan to whom she was married for 54 years.Born in Birmingham, England, she was a daughter of the late Alfred H. and May E. (Bromley) Adey, she moved to the United States in 1946.Betty was a seamstress for Tabco Braid Co. and later an assembler for Calart Florist.She was an avid bird watcher and loved the Red Sox, Celtics, bingo, reading and traveling with her husband. She leaves her children, Louis H. McGowan of Providence, and Adrienne R. McGowan, a sister Adrienne James of England and three grandchildren, Ricco Razza,and Michael and Jennifer McGowan of Vermont.Her funeral will be on Thursday at 8:45am from the Russell J. Boyle&Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence. Services at 10:00am in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, corner of RTS. 44 and 116, Greenville. Burial will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
