

Bobby Smith Thomas, of Marblehead, MA, died March 2, 2010 of complications from Alzheimer's disease, at Hallworth House in Providence, at the age of 85. Born in Orange, New Jersey, she married Lee R. Smith in 1950, and moved to Marblehead, Massachusetts in 1955, where she lived for nearly 55 years. A graduate of Pembroke (now Brown), she was by turns a homemaker, advertising agency assistant, and administrator for several Boston firms. In 1989 she married Norman T. Thomas, Jr. of Marblehead. A member of St. Andrews Church, she volunteered at My Brother's Table and was active in many charities and civic initiatives.She was the devoted mother of four children; David Smith of Cambridge, MA; Christopher Smith of Lubbock, TX; Rebecca Brown of Richmond, CA; and Justin Smith of Providence, RI; and the doting grandmother of Matthew Weller and Elijah Weller.A memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, March 14, at 2:00 pm in St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 135 Lafayette Street, Marblehead.
