She was the beloved wife of William A. Parrott, Sr. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Olivia R. (Longo) Testa.
The most important thing to our mother was family. She was fiercely protective and deeply loving, with a drive and intelligence to pursue her dreams. She supported my father as he built his career. She supported her children in the goals we tried to achieve. She lent aid to her friends, family and neighbors that she loved when they were in need. She also volunteered at the St. Anthony's Church food bank to assist strangers in need, a task she deeply loved.
She was a talented Cosmetologist and owned her own salon, Hair Graphics on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence. She was an avid reader and neither I nor her friends could keep up with the books she gave us. She used to read the Providence Journal from front to back (especially the Macy's ads). She was an amazing artist, bringing home her works of art from ceramics and absolutely loved to knit.
But it was her cooking that was her specialty. Her Grandsons, Michael and Matthew could not wait to have Nonna's meatballs. With all of the Italian cuisine she made surrounding them, Nonna’s meatballs were all they wanted. There was never a cookout without her Pineapple Upside Down Cake and there was never a birthday without her Lady Finger Cake.
Besides her loving husband, William, she is survived by her adoring children, William Parrott, Jr. and his wife, Angelica, Michael Parrott and his wife, Kimberly, Sheri (Parrott) Duffney and her husband, Mark; her grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Parrott; and her sister, Beverly Bouchard. She was predeceased by her sister, Joanne Tavares.
Our mother was truly an amazing woman, and we are better for knowing her. She will be sorely missed.
