

Providence Catherine M. "Cathy" (Bartal) Coleman, 89, died Monday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Dr. George V. Coleman. Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Margaret (Pavlik) Bartal. Catherine was a graduate of the Kings County School of Nursing, Brooklyn, New York, and worked as a Registered Nurse at Kings County Hospital. She was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. Mrs. Coleman leaves six children, daughters Susan, Mary and Patricia; sons George, Theodore, and Michael; twelve beautiful and talented grandchildren, Edward, Joseph, Jeffrey, Matthew, Kaela-Rose, Stephanie, Kara Noelle, Jacob, Rowan, Mehatabel, Michael and Ari; a brother, Thomas Bartal; five sisters, Dorothy Kiesel, Alice Horneman, Gevevieve Bartal, Sr. Carol Bartal, G.N.S.H. and Margaret Mary McKenna. She was a sister of the late Theodore Bartal, a Korean War casualty, Eleanor Reuter and Barbara Bartal. The Coleman family would like to thank the staffs of Elmhurst Extended Care Facility, Jane Brown Unit 3rd Floor, Home & Hospice Care of RI, and Rebecca Brown, M.D. for the wonderful care and compassion shown to our dear mother. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday morning, at 10:00 am, in the Saint Thomas Aquinas Priory Chapel, on the Campus of Providence College. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
