He was the son of the late Nicola and Josephine (Martella) Duva; husband of Antoinette (Prenteau) Rezendes; father of Laura A. Tella and her husband Gary Sr., Kimberley J. Lepore-Wilson and her husband Michael, Charles C. Duva Jr. and his wife Melissa; grandfather of Victoria, Gary Jr., Makayla, Christopher, Anisa, Samantha and Alexandria; great-grandfather of Bella and Audriana; and brother of the late Nicholas Duva.
Charlie’s career started as a Foreman at Eagle Cornice, Universal Roofing and Sheet Metal, and Apollo Roofing before starting his own roofing business, Superior Roofing in 1989. Charlie also owned Toni’s Corner Tap on Charles Street with his beloved wife Toni for the past 19 years.
Charlie had a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and he enjoyed bike weeks in Laconia and Florida as well as poker runs. Charlie was the type of man to give you the shirt off his back. He always wanted to give back to community and was active in the Toys for Tots foundation and St. Jude's Hospital. He incorporated his passion for giving to others with his passion to ride. Charlie was mostly known as the life of the party giving him the appropriate name “Good Time Charlie”.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 4-7 p.m. with funeral services on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, with burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at www.danafarbergiving.org.
