Charles David Matracia

Charles D. “Charlie” Matracia, 79, of Royal Avenue, Cranston passed away peacefully on March 25, 2023 at home. He was the beloved husband of Arleen B. (Grieco) Matracia; they were happily married for 60 years and together for 65 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Salvatore “Charlie” and Molly (Abbruzzese) Matracia.

Charlie worked for Forest Hill Nursery on Knollwood Avenue, Cranston for over 50 years. He was a 50 year member of the Laborers’ Union of New England Local 271 as well as a member of the Rhode Island State Police Association and the Santa Maria Di Prata Society. He was also a driver for VPNE Transportation for Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the loving father of Charles J. Matracia (PPD) and his wife Angela, Michael A. Matracia (PPD) and Donna M. Strain and her husband John and cherished grandfather of Charlie, Matthew, Andrew, Zachary, Brendan, Samantha, and Michael. He was also the brother of Beverly Palumbo.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 am from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Entombment to follow in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITATION FRIDAY 4-7 PM.
