Charles G. Palian Sr.

Charles G. Palian, Sr., 97, of Providence, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie E. (Cunha) Palian, with whom he shared many years of love, devotion, and companionship.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Sahag and Victoria (Chaderdjian) Palian.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, carrying the values of duty, honor, and perseverance throughout his life.

A skilled auto mechanic for most of his career, Charles was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical talent, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He had a lifelong passion for automobiles and took great pride in fixing and maintaining cars.

Beyond his work, Charles found joy in many simple pleasures. He loved fishing, playing golf, and spending time outdoors. An advocate for staying active, he enjoyed walking and running well into his later years. He was especially captivated by sailboats and never missed an opportunity to admire them, particularly when the majestic Tall Ships visited Newport.

Above all, Charles was devoted to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew him.

He was the loving father of Charles G. Palian, Jr. and his wife Cheryl, and Diane M. Casperson; the cherished grandfather of Jessica Rauch, Matthew Palian, and Vanessa Casperson; the proud great-grandfather of Collin Palian, Kylee Rauch, Jacob Rauch, Toby Palian, Marie Palian, Harmony Palian, and Alijah Aubert; and the treasured great-great-grandfather of Theodore and Henry.

He was the dear brother of Michael Palian and his wife Satig, and the late Dickran Palian and his wife Madeline, Armenag Palian, and Susan Selverian. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him with affection.

His family finds comfort in the memories of a life well lived, marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and an enduring appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys of life.

His visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence.
