

Charles Lanham Sheets, 78, formerly of North Providence, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harold Junior and Teresa (Pace) Sheets.
He leaves behind his two children, Richard Charles Sheets (Sami) of Johnston and Michelle (Sheets) Johnson of North Providence; three grandchildren, Michaela (Johnson) Anderson, Nina (Sheets) Wilcox (Dustin), and Raven Simone (Sheets); five great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jace, Elias, Ezra, and Enoch; and his brother, Tom Sheets (Rosemary) of North Providence.
Charles graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Providence and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning to Rhode Island, he worked at the CIBA-GEIGY chemical plant in Cranston. During those years, he also gave generously of his time as a volunteer firefighter with the Geneva Fire Station in North Providence and as an assistant coach for the North Providence Jets.
He later worked for the Taylor Group as a civilian military contractor, a role that took him to Bossier City, Louisiana; Killeen, Texas; and San Diego, California, before he built his Bar S Bar Ranch in Cedar City, Utah. In his later years, he made his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of fishing and riding his motorcycle.
He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his willingness to serve others, and the many places and experiences that shaped his life.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private.
