She was a daughter of the late Anthony D. and Lucy C. (D’Ambra) Jackvony; wife of the late Vincent Illuzzi; and companion and faithful friend of the late Arthur Ricci, Jr.; mother of Paul J. Bachinger (Lynne), and Susan C. Bachinger (Keri Hazelton); sister of Camille Caccia, Ethel DiNezza and the late Agnes Jackvony-Egan. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Born in Providence, and raised in the Charles Street neighborhood, she grew up surrounded by her family and cousins. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, working for many years in the insurance industry, retiring in 1987 as a claims adjustor from Starkweather and Shepley. Claire’s passion for shopping was evident as she was always fashionably dressed. She loved entertaining at the holidays, going to the beach, clamming, boating with Vincent, crossword puzzles, classic movies, and her monthly card group with her sisters and friends. Each week she looked forward to her walks around Lincoln Mall with Serene and Diane. She also enjoyed her daily get together with her Tanglewood group. She looked forward to running errands, attending Saturday night Mass, and weekly dinner with her friend Elaine.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Claire’s memory to the Saint Anthony Church Memorial Fund, 5 Gibbs Street, North Providence, RI 02904, would be deeply appreciated.
