Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Walter and Carmella (Nardolillo) McLean.
He is survived by his children Tina Hartmann, Clayton E. McLean, Jr., Joleen McLean and Lisa McLean; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters, Deborah Mercer and Carol Palombo, brothers James and Walter McLean, many nieces and nephews and his beloved pup Mella.
His funeral and burial will be private
