He was the beloved husband of Rose (Ceprano) DelMatto. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Pietro and Angelina (Ceseretti) DelMatto; son-in-law of the late Salvatore and Cesarina Ceprano; brother of the late Frank DelMatto, Ida Savastano, Etta DeCesare, Anna DelMatto, Pat Simas, Ermita Mastronardi and Gloria DiCarlo; brother-in-law of the late Tina, Angelo, Tony and Albert Ceprano. He was the uncle of Anthony, William and Charles Savastano and John DiCarlo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mr. DelMatto was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 89th Infantry overseas in Europe. Upon his return he graduated from URI and received a degree in Engineering. He worked in Washington D.C. for several years and returned to RI to marry Rose. He then worked at Cherry Semiconductor for many years, retiring when he was in his 70s.
Visitation and funeral service will be held Monday 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Avenue, Providence. Graveside burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Ghost Church.
