Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 12, 1961, Chief was the beloved son of Claudette Jackson and the late Raymond Hazard. He attended Central High School where he ultimately decided to obtain his GED in 1980. Following the completion of his GED, Curtis worked for several years at Bannister House alongside his mother, Claudette, before taking a job at Women and Infants Hospital. Curtis retired from his position as a Sterilization Technician following over 30 years of loyal service to Women and Infants Hospital. He shared his love of music, movies, video games, and all things comic book related with everyone who knew him. Chief’s comic book collection was one any fan would be both proud and envious of. Those who knew Chief well still laugh about the vintage electric football game he refused to throw away. His love for the Oakland Raiders was undying and his unwavering faith in his team was admirable. Chief always had a joke on his lips no matter how corny. He was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Curtis Almeida II (Valerie Almeida), Michelle James, LaTarsha James, Trakeia Almeida, Chondra Almeida, and Emmanuel Monroe, his brother, Michael Hazard, his sisters, Natalie Almeida, Robin Almeida, Melissa Jackson, Talicia Jackson, and Glenda Hazard, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2020 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Beacon Avenue Church of God, 103 Beacon Avenue, Providence, RI 02903. Repast will follow at Beacon Avenue Church of God.
Your time to rest and be with the Lord has come. Though you are no longer with us physically, we find peace in knowing that you will live on in our hearts and memories.
