Daniel Chakoian, 95, passed away at home on March 29th, 2024. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Paul and Martha (Arzoumanian) Chakoian. Beloved husband of the late Philomena (King) Chakoian. Devoted father to Denise Ann Chakoian and her husband, David John Olney. Brother of Martha Mantanian, Marion Denesawiz and Sarkis Chakoian.
Danny was a United States Army Veteran and served from 1946-1949. After serving his country, he went to work for BIF Industries in RI where he worked for decades. After leaving BIF Industries, Danny worked for the Town of North Providence until his retirement at age 81.
A devoted man, Danny poured his soul into work, family, the Armenian and Catholic churches and simple pleasures of local vacations at the cape, cookouts in the summer at home and working in his yard year round. Being a quiet man he was comfortable living in the shadow of his beloved and vocal wife Philomena, often times amused by her willingness to say what he would only think. He was loved by those he touched and regaled us all with tales of times past that he remembered like they were yesterday. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 from 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Daniel Chakoian’s name to the Healing Arts Fund at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, PO Box H Providence, RI 02901
