

Cranston David P. Hastie, 59, of Cranston, died Friday morning at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (King) Hastie. David was employed by the State of Rhode Island as a Central Pharmacy Technician for thirty-three years, retiring in 2008. He was an avid Providence College basketball fan, as well as the New York Yankees, and enjoyed all aspects of old cars, and spending time with family and friends. He leaves two sisters, Nancy A. Coughlin and her husband James, of North Providence, and Janice E. Whiteside, of Sanford, Maine; ten nieces and nephews, and twelve great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a brother of the late William Hastie. The funeral will be held Tuesday, at 7:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Saint Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Monday, 4 -7 pm.
