

East Providence Dennis E. Gagnon, 62, of Providence Avenue, died peacefully Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care Center. He was the beloved husband of Catherine A. (Snyzyk) Gagnon for thirty-six years. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of Ping (Chen) Gagnon and the late Gerald Gagnon. Dennis served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he earned his degree from the University of Rhode Island. He was then employed as an industrial engineer for the United States Postal Service for the past thirty-three years. In his spare time, Dennis loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Catherine, and his mother Ping, he leaves four daughters, Jill Gagnon, Jamie Gagnon, January Gagnon, and Jessica Gagnon- Andre, and her husband, Kevin Andre; a sister, Yvonne Galligan; and six loving grandchildren, Caitlyn, Domenic, Avery, Jaden, John and Nicholas. Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, 6 - 8 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, to which family and friends are invited. The funeral and burial, with military honors, will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in his memory will be appreciated.
