

Dolores M. (Marcello) Spino, 80, of Pocasset Bay Manor in Johnston, died peacefully at home among family after a short illness. Dolores worked in the library of Johnston High School before retiring and moving to Florida. In Florida, she volunteered for the VFW as the adjutant secretary and was involved in many Veterans organizations with her husband. Later, she returned to her hometown of Johnston to be closer to family and friends.
She was the wife of the late George Spino. She was born in Providence on June 8, 1933 to Michael Marcello and Lena (DiMeo) Marcello.
She leaves two sons: George M. Spino and his wife, Peggy, of Scarborough Maine and Bob T. Spino and his wife, Paula, of Johnston, Rhode Island; four grandchildren, George C. Spino and his wife, Karen, of Cumberland Center, Maine, Joseph M. Spino of Champaign, Illinois, Laura A. Spino of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Nicholas T. Spino of Johnston, Rhode Island. She was the very proud great grandmother of Angelina and Carmino Spino of Cumberland Center, Maine.
Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and an extraordinary woman who touched many lives. Her generosity, infectious smile, and fun-loving nature will be missed by family and friends. At Pocasset Bay Manor, she was involved in social activities and resident advocacy programs. She particularly enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with neighbors, learning computer skills, and traveling to various restaurants and casinos in the area. She brought joy, laughter, and life to all those who were fortunate to be in her presence. Although she will be sorely missed, she will never be forgotten by all whose lives were so enriched by her.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 am from the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Rocco Church, 931 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Entombment to follow in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum in St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation Friday 3-7 PM.
