After nearly 80 years, Sollitto’s Liquors sadly closed its doors in 2013. Many remember the famous Rooster who guarded the entrance since 1969, he now happily resides outside Antonelli’s Poultry in DePasquale Square on Federal Hill. Sollitto was involved with numerous local charitable and civic organizations supporting too many to mention. When his kids were growing up he enjoyed sailing trips around Narraganset bay, mandatory Sunday family drives and vacations in Cape Cod. Later in life travels with his wife to Italy to visit his daughter and seeing his grandson Domenic play in the 2016 little league World Series were some of the highlights but most of all spending time with family and friends always involving food.
