Donald Michael Robbins

ROBBINS, DONALD M., 81, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017. He was the husband of Esther (Sharp) Robbins. He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Robert and Nancy (Medoff) Robbins, and younger brother to Arthur Robbins. Donald was devoted to his family, enjoying a beautiful 57-year marriage to his beloved Esther. In addition to raising his two sons, Jeff and Ben, Don was a loving “Big Brother” to two boys, who remained in his life until the end. He doted on his grandchildren. A man of tremendous vitality, Donald pursued a successful career as VP & Corporate Counsel at Hasbro. Yet he also devoted his time to many community organizations, including Big Brothers of RI, Temple Emanu-El, Jewish Federation of RI Israel Bond Campaign, and the Boston Lyric Opera. He was passionate about community service and made a marked difference in everything he pursued. Donald was also an accomplished runner and completed more than one marathon. But most of all, he cherished the time spent with his adoring wife Esther. Funeral services will be held Thursday March 16th at 1:30PM at Temple Emanu-El, 99 Taft Ave, Providence, with burial in B’nai Israel Cemetery, Woonsocket. Shiva will be observed March 16th 7pm-9pm and March 17th 2pm-4pm, at the Providence Marriott; and March 19th 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm, and March 20th 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm, at the home of Arthur & Judy Robbins. A minyan will be held at the Marriott March 16th 7pm, and at Arthur Robbins’ home 7pm March 19th and 20th. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donald’s memory may be made to either Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State or Hope Hospice Massachusetts.
