

Donald T. York, 84, of Pleasant Street, died peacefully Tuesday Morning, November 8, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Green) York. They were married nearly sixty years.Born in Johnston, RI, he was a son of the late Thomas and Edith (Greenhalgh) York. Before retiring, Mr. York worked at the Turnkey Branch of the United States Postal Service for over twenty - five years. He was a Purple Heart Recipient after serving honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.Donald was an avid bowler, and participated in the Lang's Bowling League in Cranston for many years. He leaves a son, Donn S. York; two daughters, Joyce E. York, and Patti L. Whiting; a brother, Earl York; a sister, Grace (York) Trottier; eight loving grandchildren and fourteen loving great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son, Steven M. York; sisters Norma (York) Geranis and Lillian (York) Maciel.His funeral with visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2016 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a funeral home service beginning at 10:30 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, to which relative and friends are invited. Burial will follow at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
