

Doris A. Alarie, 93, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Pascoag. Born in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Georgianna E. (Plante) Alarie. She was employed as an executive secretary for the Naval Construction Battalion Center at Quonset Point, in Davisville, for over forty years, retiring in 1990. An avid photographer, she also volunteered at the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary for thirteen years. She was a giving person with a generous heart, who devoted her life to others. She lived by the saying "Do the best that you can, the work that is yours to do." Doris had also been a member of the women's club at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She leaves a brother, Raymond A. Alarie, of North Providence; two sisters, Bernice B. LaMontagne, of Lincoln, and Lillian F. Dodd, of Greenville; nineteen nieces and nephews, Ronald, Raymond, Dennis, and Gary Alarie, Gerard, Paul, and Charles Huot, Jane Shaw, Susan Scalera, Barbara Jarzombek, Paula Mealy, David and Peter LaMontagne, Diane Leigh, Donna Whatmough, Kevin, Carol, Charles, and Michael Dodd; and thirty-four grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rita E. Huot and aunt of the late Kathleen Alarie. Doris' funeral will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 7:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 901 Atwells Avenue, Providence. Graveside burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
