

Edmond A. Neal, Jr., 88, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Briarcliffe Gardens. He was the husband of Beatrice S. (Yanka) Neal. They were married for over 30 years.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edmond A. Neal Sr., and Ruth (Martin) Neal.Ed was the president of Russell Harrington Cutlery in Southbridge, MA for 22 years, before retiring in 1996. During this time, he was also president of Washington Forge in New Jersey, president of the American Cutlery Manufacturers Association, on the board of directors for Hyde Manufacturing Co., on the board of directors for Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, MA, and on the committee of the United Way for the Massachusetts Tri-County area. Previous to this, he was an Area Sales Manager for Nicholson File Co. in Providence, RI, and was also a public and inspirational speaker, speaking on the topics of business management and American trade. He is a former deacon of the Roman Catholic Church in Worcester County, MA, and was on the church committee for the Holy Dormition Orthodox Church in Cumberland, RI. He had two advanced degrees, one from the Advanced Management program at Harvard University, and also a Masters degree in Biblical Studies from Providence College. He also was a graduate of Brown University, and was in the United States Marine Corps reserves. Besides his wife, he leaves his five sons, Daniel Neal, and his wife, Sarah, Michael Neal, Edmond Neal, III and his wife Kathy, Scott Neal, and Thomas Neal, and his wife, Patti; two daughters, Catherine Petrozziello, and her husband Lou, and Kelly Naqi, and her husband, Hussain; thirteen grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Neal, and his wife, Patricia; a sister, Judy Murray, and her husband, Charles; and his best friend of 75 years, Charles H. Eden, and his wife, Paula. Ed is the former husband of Margaret Neal, and is predeceased by his infant daughter Maria Neal.He lived for his family, and provided for them without any regrets. He helped loved ones and strangers alike, often anonymously, and never with the desire for acknowledgement. He worked hard at work that was worth doing, and loved his family and his God. He genuinely enjoyed his life.Calling hours will be on Friday, April 13th at Holy Dormition Orthodox Church, 71 Manville Hill Road, Cumberland, from 1-4pm, with a funeral service at 6:00 pm. His funeral will be on Saturday, April 14th, with Litya at 9:30am at Holy Dormition Orthodox Church, 71 Manville Hill Road, Cumberland. Interment will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
