Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Esdrus and Maxima (Blanchard) Bernier; father of Sandra Ann Laurie and Donna Marie Murphy; stepfather of Robert James Hein and Joseph Louis Hein; grandfather of Mario Cardillo, Ashley, Marissa and Robert Hein; former husband of Elizabeth Bernier; and brother of the late Joan Bachmann, Doris Hannan and Mercedes Bradbury.
Mr. Bernier had worked as a service manager for Regine Pontiac and had also served as a custodial engineer for the North Providence High School before retiring.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 5-7 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private.
