

Edward R. Catallozzi, 81, passed away on January 8, 2022 at Roger Williams Medical Center. Born and raised in Providence, son of the late Francesco “Frank” and Eva Catallozzi; brother of Vincent Catallozzi of Florida, Gina Brinton of Delaware, and the late Frank Catallozzi; godfather of Rick Petrucci of Cranston. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School class of 1958, having received the prestigious Anthony Medal for excellence in writing. He attended Providence College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Bryant University. He also served in the Army Reserves.
He worked as an auditor of publications; later he was a self-employed writer of travel reference books such as “The Worldwide Ferry Services.”
Ed was active in his Catholic faith, often attending daily mass, prayer meetings, and lectures. He wore his brown scapula throughout his illness as a member of The Men of St. Joseph.
He loved attending the softball and hockey games of his godson’s daughter Emma, eating at Iggy’s Restaurant in Oakland Beach, and walking along the bay. He was an avid New England Patriots fan.
Visitation will be held Friday starting at 10:00 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO HOME, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St, Providence burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
