Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William and Lillian (Smith) Cogean.
He was the father of Edward V. Cogean, Jr. and the late Rosemarie Cotugno; father in law of Sharlene Cogean; grandfather of Tasha Torres and her husband Luis, Alisha Cogean and the late Michael Cotugno; great grandfather of Sherry Cotugno, Stefania Cogean and Giovanni Torres and brother of the late William, Walter and George Cogean and Shirley Williams.
His funeral with visitation will be held Tuesday at 9:00 am from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston.
