Edward Dante Maccarone Jr., 69, of Seekonk, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his adoring wife and children.

He was the loving husband of Diana (Simeone) Maccarone.

Son of Anne (Donfrancesco) Maccarone and the late Edward D. Maccarone Sr., born April 7, 1951 in Providence, RI.

Proud and loving father of Jenna Robbio and husband Steven, Kristen Giardina and husband Joseph, Laurie Camara and husband Mark, and son Edward Maccarone III. Also cherished “Papa” of Zachary Robbio. Brother to David Maccarone and wife Lisa. “Uncle Ed” to four nieces and four nephews.

Along with his bright blue eyes, he had a smile as radiant and big as his heart. What he did not possess in height, Edward made up for in his demeanor; a big sense of humor and contagious belly laugh were a few attributes that made a lasting impression. Sparse in words at times, his affection was portrayed more in the ideals evident in his life; the unyielding devotion to his wife and soul-mate, the perseverance of life-long friendships, a tenacious work ethic, a selflessness that compelled him to whole-heartedly raise his four children, the gratification he took in achievements, and the unequivocal pride illicit in his grandson. He attended Classical High School and later pursued the study of Business at the University of Rhode Island as a brother in the Theta Chi fraternity and member of the Crew team. After graduating he continued in the construction industry until retirement.

Visitation will be held Monday, 4-7 PM with his funeral on Tuesday at 9 AM from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Margaret Catholic Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford, followed by entombment in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

Ed, my brother
Thanks for everything.... for rerouting your dad so I could ride to school with you ... for a few epic basketball games at the old house( I never could learn how to do a layup)... for convincing your parents to open up your home to a ragtag bunch of musicians and allowing us to become rock legends(in our own minds!)...for keeping us laughing at the Jamstage sessions ... for the beautiful renovation work you did on our house... above all,for being a genuine friend.

Diana,Jenna,Kristen,Laurie ,Ed ,David and Ma ... thank you for loving and caring for my friend especially when he needed you most .I love you all and will keep you in my prayers

I miss those warm sunny days cruising the back roads on our "hogs" , free and independent. .. I miss that wicked sense humor and your "out-of-nowhere" wisecracks that always hit the mark...I miss my friend and brother...but will carry his spirit for the rest of my days.

To the Maccarone Family; I was saddened to hear of Ed's passing and offer my deepest sympathy. I have fond memories of meeting Ed over fifty years ago when we were forming the band Sunn. Ed was a very talented drummer and his sense of humor and laughter always brought a smile to the band members and those around him.
May your family memories bring peace and comfort knowing Ed was loved by all, and will never be forgotten.

I am writing to express my sincerest condolences to the family of the late Edward D. Maccarone Jr. Your father was a classmate of mine at Classical High School from 1965-1969, as well as a URI classmate, from 1969 -1971. I also knew some of your father's fraternity brothers at Theta Chi. One thing I was unaware of was his membership on the URI crew team. I always looked forward to seeing Ed at our Classical High reunions, and his presence always brightened the occasion. We shared some classes in high school, and Ed was always very knowledgeable. Your father will be missed by the Class of 1969, and although he was one of the more"diminutive" members of the class, he will be "walking tall in heaven"Of that I am certain. May he Rest in Peace. Alan Vogel.
